Rachel Wong

Hi there!

My name is Rachel Wong (she/her),
a multidisciplinary graphic designer
and a passionate design educator.

What is design to me?

My creative output pivots around using design to bring meaningful cultural and social connections to life. I value how culture and design intertwine, enriching each other in ways that shape our experiences and communities. Intersectionalities, elements of identity, and social change are woven into each facet of my work. At the core of my design philosophy is a commitment to creating work that is reflective, thought-provoking, and purpose-driven.

My expertise is primarily in brand identity, storytelling, and marketing campaigns. My experience spans a wide range of design fields from digital to print to video and beyond. No matter what the output, I bring confidence, adaptability, and a thoughtful approach to every project.

Design is a powerful force. When its knowledge is harnessed to uplift meaningful causes, it unlocks doors of opportunities—for connection, education, community and lasting change.

  1. Research

In my creative process, research is the most foremost and crucial step! Whether a project has generations of history behind it or is purely aesthetic, I need to understand the story and values behind the project. Every decision has intention.

  2. Ideation

Ideation is where the research gets put to work! Mindmapping keywords, personality traits, values, symbolism, color direction, and more allows me to see how these elements connect and overlap.

  3. Visualization

Visualization is a stage where there is no pressure to be perfect. It is about exploring freely, testing ideas, and translating the ideation map into something visual. I stretch the creative direction in as many ways as possible to see what lands.

  4. Creation and execution

Creation and execution is where research, mind mapping, and exploration begin to take shape. Seeing ideas materialize into forms is the moment when I truly feel immersed in the process of bringing a project to life.

  5. Feedback and finalization

Feedback is essential for understanding how a project is perceived beyond my perspective. Here, I interpret and integrate feedback to refine my work thoughtfully, transforming insights into a polished and well-resolved final outcome.
